Clean Clothes and More: Going Green with Help from Local Dry Cleaners

When people take their clothes to the dry cleaners, they often don’t care what happens to them as long as they come back ready to be worn again. That can, however, be a mistake. Being more aware of how your dry cleaner does its business can be a help to the environment and ensure you have better results by the time your clothes come back to you. How Normal Dry Cleaning Can Harm the Environment Dry cleaning has had an interesting history. First developed in the 1850s, it once utilized kerosene as the basis of its cleaning process. Although it was replaced by perchloroethylene in the 1930s, “perc” turned out to be both toxic and carcinogenic. High concentrations of perc can affect the air quality around a dry cleaner and put people in danger.
